Information about the BOFA Pure Beauty

How does it work?

The BOFA Pure Beauty system has been designed to quietly and efficiently extract and remove harmful fumes caused by chemicals produced in the salon.

Many systems currently available on the market are simply elaborate fans or air purifiers and do not extract fumes to the levels required by law.

Bofa Pure Beauty achieves a high level of extraction and capture by using 2 levels of filtration:

  1. 1

A Particulate Filter - Fine dust is trapped in the particulate filter.

  2. 2

A Carbon Filter - Vapours are captured in the activated carbon filter.

What makes Pure Beauty different?

No need to replace existing furniture:

The Pure Beauty extraction system will fit easily into any salon, without the costly need to replace existing nail stations or furniture.

Available in black or white, it has been designed to be easy to install and to fit in with your current salon design.

Easy to Operate:

The Pure Beauty system couldn’t be easier to use.

It comes with a simple on/off switch and a ‘filter condition’ indicator.

Replacement filters can be ordered direct from Bofa and have been designed to be easily removed and replaced.

Laws and Regulations

Laws and Regulations

As well as wanting to create a fresh smelling and relaxing environment for their clients, employers and owners of beauty salons also have a legal duty to their employees when it comes to putting their health at risk.

There are four main acts that should be considered. Bofa Pure Beauty has been designed to work effectively under the guidelines of each one:

  • Health and Safety at Work Act (1974)
  • The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (1999)
  • The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)
  • Code of Practice for Nail Salons

Health & Safety at Work Act (1974):

An Act to make further provision for securing the health, safety and welfare of persons at work, for protecting others against risks to health or safety in connection with the activities of persons at work, for controlling the keeping and use and preventing the unlawful acquisition, possession and use of dangerous substances, and for controlling certain emissions into the atmosphere....

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (1999):

Generally makes more explicit what employers are required to do to manage health and safety under the above act. This specifically requires an assessment of the risks that the main activities of the business exposes employees and customers to and a subsequent implementation of reasonable control measures to eliminate or reduce those risks.

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH):

Using chemicals or other hazardous substances at work can put people's health at risk. So the law requires employers to control exposure to hazardous substances to prevent ill health.

If it is identified through a COSHH risk assessment process that employees are being, or are likely to be, exposed to respiratory or skin sensitisers at work, then the employer is required to control those risks.

Code of Practice for Nail Salons :

This provides nail professionals with authoritative and industry endorsed guidance and has been developed by Habia. Habia is the government approved standards setting body for hair, beauty, nails, spa therapy, barbering and African-Caribbean hair, and creates the standards that form the basis of all qualifications including NVQs, SVQs and Apprenticeships, as well as codes of practice.
